How to Modify Your Garage to Suit Your Electric Car

There are numerous perks to buying an electric car. Investing in electric can help you reduce your impact on the environment while also saving you money in the long term. But you can’t just purchase your new vehicle and expect everything to work like you did with a regular car. You’re going to want to make some modifications to your garage to make your commute easier, and this is especially true if there are limited public charging stations in your area. Here are some steps you can take to prep for your new vehicle.

Install a Charging Station

Unless you want to have to charge up your battery at a public facility every time you take your car out for a ride, you’re going to want to have a charging station at your home. You’re going to want to make sure that your garage is equipped with at least a 12-amp circuit and make sure it’s dedicated solely to charging your vehicle. A 120-volt outlet can get the job done with most vehicles, but you may want to consider upgrading to 240-volts to improve the charging speed. The particular needs of your car can vary by model, so be sure to enlist the services of an electrician with experience installing charging stations.

Clear Up Space in Your Garage

A charging station may be a practical necessity for electric car owners, but it can take up a lot of space. That means that you’re going to have to significantly rearrange what you’re already storing in your garage. Make sure that however you organize things, there’s a clear path from the station to your vehicle. Find the best workbenches with integrated tool storage so that you can make the most of your space and have everything you need right at your disposal.

Think About Climate Control

The battery serves as the heart of your electric car, and while it’s not an absolute necessity, taking measures to control the climate in your garage can help extend the life of your battery and forestall the need for a costly replacement. Insulating your walls and garage door are a cheap and easy way to keep a more temperate environment in your garage, but you may want to think about installing a thermostat as well.

While there’s a little bit of overhead involved in preparing your garage for an electric car, it can save you a lot of money down the road. Many cars can be kept charged for about $1.50 a day, and those savings can stack up over time.

5 Emerging Technologies That Will Transform Transit

Technology is transforming almost all the industries in the world by making them more efficient, effective, and cost saving. The positive impacts of innovation are there for everyone to see. Although other industries have experienced significant changes, it is the emerging technologies in the transit industry that will transform it to another level. The list below highlights five emerging innovations that will transform the transit industry.

1. Improved Energy Storage Facilities

Technology has led to the production of advanced energy storage batteries that can store electric energy for a more significant amount of time. These batteries are generally being used to propel electric vehicles. Powering vehicles with electricity will transform the transit industry to a more efficient energy sector that does not contribute to environmental and air pollution. The batteries are made such that they can be recharged after their energy levels are diminished.

2. Space Transport

One cannot mention innovation in the transit sector without mentioning SpaceX technology. This technology is geared towards transporting people into space for tourist purposes. The innovation will change space exploration that has proven expensive and complicated for other people except for government and space exploration agencies. People will easily tour space and come back to Earth’s atmosphere within a short period and at a lower cost.

3. High-Speed Trains

The invention of bullet trains changed the rail transport to a greater extent than what many people had expected. However, the new proposed technology of high-speed trains that will be moving at an average speed of 220 mph will transform the transit industry to a more considerable extent. For example, it is expected that the new high-speed train will move between Los Angeles and San Francisco, two cities in California, within about three hours, meaning cutting the travel time in half.

4. 3D Printed Cars

This is an innovation that is looking forward to the production of printed cars. The innovation is focused on reducing the time it takes to make a car by introducing car printing technology that will take less than 44 hours for a completed vehicle. The benefit that printed cars will bring is that they will be cheaper, and the auto industry will give individuals an opportunity to personalize the body and make of their vehicle.

5. Modern GPS Devices

Although GPS devices have been common for about a decade, it is the new generation of GPS devices that will have an impact on the transit industry. The previous GPS could only calculate mileage, and the time it would take to reach your destination. However, the new GPS hardware allows the device not only to record distance and time, but also include other fine details such as adjusting time due to changes in weather, road congestion, or even changing to the preferred route of the driver or passenger.

Transit industry will significantly be impacted and transformed by the coming innovations, and we are likely to experience a transit that is more secure and safe within the next decade.

A Closer Look at the Tech Making Your Electric Car Possible

INTRODUCTION

Electric cars are one of the top innovations in the automotive industry. They have emerged as the top alternative to gasoline-fueled vehicles. The way these cars work is by having an energy stored batter. This batter will then provide the energy the vehicle needs in order to function. With electric cars, drivers will be able to use a vehicle that will provide everyone with a very safe and clean means of transportation. It will be a more environmentally friendly alternative to vehicles that are powered by a combustion engine. As well as being more environmentally friendly, electric cars have a faster acceleration and also don’t produce any exhaust.

BASIC INFORMATION

All electric cars are battery electric vehicles. As a result, they are propelled by a motor that is run by electricity. The vehicle will have a battery that is needed to be charged on a regular basis to keep operating. With this type of vehicle, the batter will provide power for a controller which will then turn this power into the energy that ignites the motor. When looking to charge the vehicle, drivers will be able to use a standard electrical outlet or go to a nearby charging station.

TYPES OF MOTORS

Electric cars have a number of unique motors. Each of these motors has their own features and characteristics. As a result, they will offer drivers with a number of advantages. When it comes to the motors of electric cars, drivers will be able to take advantage of AC motors and DC motors.

Source: Car and Driver

The first type of motors of electric cars are AC motors which are most commonly used by all EV and hybrid vehicles on the market. Alternating current motors are best for drivers who are looking for continuous power. They are advantageous for those who are looking to drive up and down hills. With this type of motor, the starting power is slower, but the vehicle can run at high RPM”s without getting too overheated. Another thing to keep in mind with this type of motor is that there is no need for a transmission. AC motor cars can move heavier vehicles as well.

When using an electric car, the other type of motor is the DC motor. While many people are often comparing the AC and DC motors, most drivers who are looking to convert to an electric vehicle prefer the DC motors. They are the more affordable option when it comes to electric cars. The DC powered cars are also much easier to control as well. Drivers will also get a vehicle with more initial torque and a peak power that is higher. As a result, electric cars with this motor are more popular with those who like to race as well as ones who are looking to get a more affordable electric car.

TYPES OF BATTERIES

In order to power an electric car, it will be necessary to have a battery. Batteries are among the most vital parts of any electric car that runs on proliferation. The electric cars need a lot of batteries in order to function. They must be installed in an array and stored into a battery back to operate. An electric car battery is hefty as it can weigh up to 1,000 pounds. It also takes up a lot of space as well. Most are fabricated in China and then are sent to wherever they will end up all across the world. Each battery must be powered on a regular basis in order to keep the electric car running.

There are three main types of batteries. Each of these battery types has their own unique characteristics. The batteries offered by electric cars are the lead-acid batteries, lithium-ion batteries, and the nickel metal hydride batteries.

The lead-acid batteries are the oldest type of battery available for electric cars. These batteries are among the cheapest to produce and are compatible with a number of electronic devices. However, these batteries can be messy, toxic and are prone to explode when damaged.

With an electric car, consumers can take advantage of lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are ones that have high energy to mass ratio. As a result, they will have less weight per unit of stored energy. Each of these batteries retain their energy when they are not used. However, they often lose their capacity as they age. These batteries are considered to have the most potential for being available to the mass market. The one thing that can deter these battery types from being widely available is that they are costly. Another thing to keep in mind is that they are toxic and need special handling in order to be recycled.

Nickel metal hydride batteries are the third most common type of electric car battery. They have good energy to mass ratio and energy density. They are non-toxic which make them the easiest to recycle. The one disadvantage of this type of battery is that they do not maintain their charges very well when they are not used.

CHARGING STATIONS

Source: Breathe Easy Insurance

Like gasoline-fueled vehicles with a fuel cell, electric cars need to be given energy in order to run. With electric cars, you will need to go to a charging station. This is a place where you put an electrical device into the car and wait for it to charge. Thankfully you don’t need to worry too much about overcharging your car like with hoverboards or other high capacity battery powered devices where there is a small chance of explosion in cheaply constructed batteries. It is recommended however, that you don’t constantly fill your battery to full and only charge it when it’s almost completely empty as this can cause the battery to hold less charge over time. The charging stations are very similar to gas stations. The main difference is, they are places that specialize in providing power for electric vehicles.

CONCLUSION

Electric cars have emerged as the potential replacement for gasoline-fueled vehicles. They are likely to be used more often due to their performance and environmentally friendly features. When it comes to electric cars, they are operated by two different types of motors as well as ones that come in three different battery types. With an electric car, consumers will be able to take advantage of a highly innovative and efficient vehicle.

4 Tips For Keeping Your Electric Car’s Interior Perfect

You’ve been wanting to get into an electric car for a long time now. Finally, your dream has come true, and you are enjoying riding around in your new car. It is a testament to all the hard work it took to get you to this point, and you’re eager about lessening your impact on the environment. Now that you have a nice electric car, you really want to do what you can to keep the interior looking perfect for as long as you possibly can. The following are four tips to help you achieve this goal.

No Smoking

Smoking isn’t just bad for you, or your kids – it can also be bad for your car, according to Psychology Today. Nothing can destroy the clean interior of a car like a person who allows themselves or others to smoke in their car. Not only can this leave behind a bad odor, but smoke can leave stains on the interior of your car too. Plus, if you ever wanted to resell your car, smoking can considerably lower the resale value.

No Eating in the Car

Another fast and hard rule to stick by, if you want the interior of your new electric car to remain factory perfect, is to not eat or drink in the car. This is especially true when you have little kids in your car. A child will always manage to figure out how to spill a drink or drip mustard on the seats or carpeting. The best policy is to skip the drive-through and just go inside the restaurant to eat. Then there is no chance of getting stains on your car’s interior.

Leave the Pets at Home

You might think it is a good idea to allow your dog to take a ride in the backseat of your new car. Do not risk it unless you have some sort of cover for the seat. All it takes is for your dog to get bored and he could start chewing on the seats, or he could get carsick. Either way, it won’t look pretty.

Detailing

If you want the interior of your car to look brand new and perfect all the time, then you are going to have to do some regular cleaning and maintenance. Once a week vacuuming to make sure that dirt and grime do not get embedded in your seats or carpeting is going to be a good habit to get into. Be careful with how you clean though! According to AutoPreme, a car floor mat manufacturer, there are usually two types of leather car seats. Those with perforated holes and those without. You’re going to want to look closely at your seats before doing any cleaning, as you will want to check your car’s manual or a professional’s specific cleaning instruction. One rule though, is that if you have perforated leather, you should not clean it with water, cleanser, or conditioner.

Conclusion

You have had your car for a while now, and you have strictly followed all the essential rules. You have been rewarded with an interior that looks as amazing as when you drove your Tesla off the showroom floor. You have proven to yourself that a little responsible interior care truly can lead to perfect results when it comes to how awesome your car looks on the inside and make it last forever. And now that you have a green vehicle, be sure to look into greener ways to get around for your kids, teenagers, and other people in your lives. Hoverboards in particular are a great way to introduce people to getting around cleaner (and cooler).

Are Hoverboards Dangerous

Are Hoverboards Dangerous? Here's Our Say!

Hoverboards gained massive popularity last year, and even until now. As a matter of fact, they're one of the few toys in Santa's wish list this Christmas.

However, before you plan on buying, or you already have one of this self-balancing scooter, it's very important to ask yourself this question, “are hoverboards dangerous?”

Just like with any other mode of transportation, you have to know that it also comes with certain risks and dangers.

Though, by familiarizing yourself about these, you'll be able to save yourself from injuries and accidents.

1. Falling
Perhaps, one of the biggest risks that hoverboards have is that, there's always the risk of falling from these scooters, especially if you're still on the process of learning how to balance yourself. Likewise, even if you have already got the hang of it, there's still the tendency, especially if you're riding with a rough terrain. Collisions can also occur, and it could be with other objects or people that are in the way. That's why it's very important to stay alert and cautious of your surroundings when riding this toy. Of course, performing tricks can also increase the risk of injury, and that's why you really have to watch your kids when they are playing.

2. Technical Issues, such as Exploding
In the US and the UK, there were reports about hoverboards getting caught alight while being charged, or when being ridden. Most manufacturers claim that it's not an issue with the hoverboards themselves, but has something to do with the quality of li-ion batteries used in them. Apparently, there are a lot of factories in China making their own li-ion batteries, and the quality is definitely not as reliable as the ones made by top producers.

Fortunately, you don't have to worry about this anymore, because before they can be sold in the market, hoverboards must carry the UL certification proving the battery inside them is safe and reliable.

3. Traffic Accidents
Just like with bicycles and skateboards, even hoverboards can get involved in traffic accidents. The risk increases if you're riding them too close to the street. That's why you should never play with a hoverboard in the street or near traffic.

Aside from that, riding your hoverboard up or down steep hills can also be pretty dangerous. Although they don't have a height limit which you should follow, you have to consider that they can lift you a few inches above the ground. Which means if you're too tall, then there's a risk of head accidents while riding.

4. Weight Limitations
You have to be aware that hoverboards have a minimum and maximum weight that you should follow. The minimum is usually around 45 pounds, while the maximum is 300 pounds. The importance of this is that, failure to follow the weight specifications would lead to balancing problems as the device won't be able to detect the weight and balance it correctly. This is also one of the few reasons why children often get involved in accidents while riding a hoverboard.

Hoverboards are actually fun to ride, as long as you know how to use them correctly. Failure to do so would lead to injuries and accidents.

Are Hoverboards Waterproof

You gotta admit it:

Hoverboards are the shit!

There is nothing in the world that can compare to that smooth hoovering feeling.

But once you are gonna take that hoverboard out in the street, you want it to last as long as possible.

What will come to your mind is:

“Are hoverboards waterproof?!”

The answer is NO.

Hoverboards are not waterproof but water resistance to an IP rating of IP54. When it is written, it is 100% waterproof does not give you an idea of sweeping on the town while it is heavily raining.

Remember your board has a battery inside and other delicate components that need to be taken care of.

We will explain you how you can protect what parts of your hoverboards from water damage. Following these easy advices will increase the longevity of your hoverboard.

Motherboard

The motherboard of the hoverboard is an essential component in a hoverboard. Ruining it can cost a new hoverboard. Have you ever had a problem with your laptop or your smart-phone? And when it is a case of its motherboard? What happens is changing the motherboard is as well as purchasing a new one. Well, you don't want to repeat the same case often over and over. Try as much as possible to avoid drenching your hoverboard. When it happens, the trick is shutting it down or burying it in a large bowl of rice that can cover it up.

Battery

A battery is another critical component in most gadgets. If you drench your hoverboard battery and it damages, there is no way; it will afford to go back to its usual self. However, you can also try the same trick of dipping it in a bowl of rice leaving it for a couple of days. It might work again if you're lucky enough. To make your hoverboard last, avoid getting it wet, it will save you money.

Silicone covered Hoverboards

It wasn't supposed to rain that day. You decided to slay with your hoverboard because the weather was perfect for you and suddenly it starts to drip. To avoid all this situation, a silicone covered hoverboard can work best. It is a protective cover that protects your gadget from internal water damage.

Don't ruin it with water. We all know electronics and water are not a perfect match. Repairing it does not make it reasonable. However, if this happens, here are the tips

Power your hoverboard

Make it as soon as possible. Turning it off allows the flow of electrons stops from flowing through the components inside which prevents shorts from happening.

Battery disconnection

After the hoverboard is off, disconnect the battery to make it start over. This helps the gadget from damaging the battery.

Rice trick

If your gadget soaks enough water to damage it, dip it in a bowl of rice and leave it for a couple of days to save it from shutting down.

Diagnose it

Take a screwdriver after you've switched off your hoverboard and remove the access panels that covers the electronics and check exactly where the water has accumulated and at what level to repair it.

Dry it out

With all the components taken off, use a soft towel to dry off the hoverboard chassis that is inside. Dry the cables indoors and leave the enclosure open for like a day or two to ensure all the water accumulated has evaporated.

When this is done, carefully fix the dismantled pieces to their locations then power on your gadget to see if the tips worked.

Treat your gadget like you would with either your laptop or smartphone device. Protect your board from water by carrying a waterproof bag with you. Hoverboards are electric; its components are delicate to water. It can easily be damaged when rode in an immersion in water. It can survive splashes but not in the heavy rain. Just stick with the dry places where possible if you want the life of your beautiful hoverboard.

How to Charge a Hoverboard

During the past holiday seasons, Hoverboards sold like hot cakes, and they have become the rage of the moment, with new designs and versions rolling out.

While they have been the rage of the moment, many people have complained that they explode due to unstable power control levels and the lithium-ion batteries. If you news freak type, you would have seen  “exploding hoverboards” on your T.V screen, which might have kept you wondering if indeed Hoverboards are safe to charge or if there is a perfect way to prevent them from exploding.

First of all, most of these fires were caused by cheap batteries. Nowadays, there are some legal requirements for selling hoverboards. Every product has to be labeled with the official UL certificate that prooves, that the battery is safe and produced by a high quality brand like Samsung or LG:

Before you are buying a hoverboard, you should therefore have a look at this checklist:

  • check
The fastest way to discover if a Hoverboard is safe or unsafe is by looking at it. The original ones will have a UL certification logo both on the base and the charger. So, if you can’t find this certification anywhere on the Hoverboard or charger, then is a counterfeit. But, if you do, then you have a legitimate board.
  • check
Another way you can tell is the price; some Hoverboards from China sells as low as $100. So, if you pay anything less than $100, then there is a chance that your Hoverboard is counterfeit. Additionally, just because you spent more doesn’t mean you have a legitimate Hoverboard, a company could have just sold a hoverboard that cost $100 to produce for $400. Just look for the UL Certificate.
  • check
Another way to tell the originality of your Hoverboard is when you bought it from. If you purchased it from an official retailer or Amazon, then you might have a legitimate hoverboard, but if you bought it from an online store with no credibility, there is a chance that it could be an unsafe product. Again the UL Certificate should be your first decision criterion.

So, whether you’re merely considering of buying one or you already purchased a Hoverboard, the following guide will put you through on the right ways to follow when charging your Hoverboard. But, before this let’s look at some of the reasons why does a  lithium-ion battery without a UL Certificate fail?

  • Temperature shifting: your battery’s chargeability can be damaged if the temperature is either extremely hot or cold.
  • Over-charging the battery: your Hoverboard might explode, erupt, overheat or even catch fire if you overcharge your battery it 9some people is fond of charging overnight).
  • Damage on impact: your hoverboard battery could overheat, catch fire or explode during a recharge if the battery is damaged or punctured.

Guide to safely charge your Hoverboard

  1. Make sure you read through and follow the manual that comes with your board before you charge or start using.
  2. If you see any sign of swelling up, overheating or smoke dismount, make sure you remove the charger immediately.
  3. Avoid charging the battery overnight or leaving it unattended to.
  4. Also, make sure always to use the correct power adaptor to avoid short circuit.
  5. Do not disassemble a battery or parts of the battery.

So, there you have it, these are simple steps you can take to ensure the longevity of your new hoverboard and keep your family safe during the process!

We’ve put together one of the best buying guides to help you decide which is the best Bluetooth board for your style. We’ve scoured the internet and compiled a list of the finest options online.

We’ve also broken down some of the features you’re looking for, how to pair your music to the board, and what basics you need in a great hoverboard.

Let’s dive right in, shall we?

Bluetooth Hoverboard with Speakers Reviews

While others browse aimlessly, not sure on what they are looking for, we’ve taken the guesswork out. These are simply the best Bluetooth models on the market, ranked from least expensive to most expensive.

XtremepowerUS Self-Balancing Bluetooth Scooter – The Best Bang for your Budget

Extremepower US Hoverboard

You should get an excellent ride out of this XtremepowerUS brand. After a 2-3 hour charging time (not the best we’ve seen, but not the worst either), you’re good to go.

And how far you go depends on how you ride. The 350W dual motors give you between 9-12 miles per ride. Of course, the ride depends on the rider, but you can manage up to 200lbs on this board.

The 6.5” wheels are a bit small for larger riders, and the 8mph top speed could deter more serious riders. If we were to classify this board, it’s the cheap Bluetooth hoverboard for kids and smaller, less experienced riders.

And of course, the speakers. The speakers really make this model. You can get decent performance out of other brands, but you’ve come here to find out about great Bluetooth speakers.

You won’t be let down by this brand. The Bluetooth is easy to pair with your phone. Simply start up the tunes and start your ride.

What we dont love

  • times-circle
It’s smaller than the average board.
  • times-circle
The motor requires too much time to charge up.
  • times-circle
The 350W seems a bit excessive for the small board
  • times-circle
We’re not thrilled about the top speed.

What we love

  • check-circle-o
It’s simple and easy to ride.
  • check-circle-o
It’s also simple and easy to start your music
  • check-circle-o
The Bluetooth speakers make it a great board for younger riders
  • check-circle-o
    UL Certified Safe Battery

One look at this beast and you’ll get why we included it on the list. It’s chunky, it’s rough, and it handles like a dream.

The thick 8” tires and deep tread give you a smooth, clean ride. You should enjoy the shock absorbent feel as you glide over grass, stones, and dirt. It also gives you a great incline over the terrain you want to travel.

Of course, it does pair with your phone for a great sound. The speakers were nothing to write home about, but they did give the functionality of having your music in off-road conditions.

But if your criteria is that you want to ride when you want, and where you want with your tunes pumping, this exceeds that request. Don’t expect a prissy pink hoverboard with Bluetooth. This is for serious riders only.

What we dont love

  • times-circle
Even with the powerful tires, we only get 8mph as a top speed.
  • times-circle
The 500W motors seem to chew up power quickly and even quicker when paired to the music
  • times-circle
You’ll still get 7-10 miles, but it could be better.

What we love

  • check-circle-o
It’s got a Low Battery protection that warns you of a 10% charge.
  • check-circle-o
It also slows to a stop when you do run out of juice, rather than simply quit
  • check-circle-o
The 15-degree incline capability and the thick tires made it incredibly smooth
  • check-circle-o
The 1-2 hour charging time was pretty accurate and quick.

TOMOLOO LED Bluetooth Board –Get Your Flash and Bling

This board is comparatively priced with the WorryFree version. So, what makes this unique? Well, for one, we appreciate the increased load capacity of 265 lbs. That’s enough to handle just about any normal sized adult.

You can adjust the board for novice, intermediate and experienced riders, which is a bonus in our books. The silent motors are a great feature when you really want to listen to your music. You don’t have to crank it too loud to get the full effect as well.

The Chinese brand TOMOLOO complies with the UL certification, making these boards safe and fun to ride. The Bluetooth capabilities of this board are great. You have remote on/off functions and a decent set of speakers. They rival any set of speakers you have at home. The board also comes equipped with fancy, flashy lights to add to the effect.

You can really ride in style up to 10mph from a 2-hour charge.

What we dont love

  • times-circle
The tires are only 6.5”, which feel undersized for a larger rider.
  • times-circle
We also noticed that when riding with the lights and music, we didn’t get a good range.
  • times-circle
The battery life seems to be shortened by all the features.

What we love

  • check-circle-o
We love the app functions, giving us the ability to fine-tune our ride, our top speed, or balance and many other points.
  • check-circle-o
We also love that the music is easily controlled with excellent connectivity.
  • check-circle-o
The 10mph speed feels fast, which is good when the music is pumping.
  • check-circle-o
    UL Certified Safe Battery

TOMOLOO 8” Self-Balancing Scooter – Sturdy and Resilient Rides

Yet another Chinese TOMOLOO makes our list of recommended hoverboards. This is the upgraded, more advanced version of the model we just mentioned. Everything on this board is a little bigger and a little better than its smaller cousin.

The 8” tires are more secure and provide excellent stability for larger riders. We were surprised by the 20 degree incline ability, and the tires were smooth, even though not the full 10” size you can get on other models.

Again, it has a large load capacity of 265lbs, but this time promising a quicker 12-14mph top speed. The 5W Bluetooth speakers are just as good as the smaller board (actually just as great!), but everything else about the board just works better.

The remote on/off and app power warning were a great addition. You should be able to get 10 miles of range, even with the music pumping.

What we dont love

  • times-circle
Honestly, it’s hard to find fault with this board.
  • times-circle
If we had to nit-pick, it’s the longer charging time
  • times-circle
It’s at least two hours to get a full charge.

What we love

  • check-circle-o
This is one of the best remote systems we’ve seen.
  • check-circle-o
The TOMOLOO brand knows how to pair apps with their technology
  • check-circle-o
The LED lighting system was fun and so adaptive
  • check-circle-o
We loved that you can customize your ride, your balance, your speed, and your lighting system.

GT Hover Two Wheel Bluetooth Scooter – More Power and More Speed

This is the granddaddy of the hoverboards. It’s the Lamborghini Bluetooth Hoverboard. Its price tag is a bit steep, but you can expect more from the GT Hover.

The training modes on the app allow you to select a beginner, moderate, or advanced mode. It’s a great way to initiate yourself on a powerful board. We had to look twice at the 800W (Yes, 800!) dual motors on the board. They really have some zip!

...

The 8.5” tires are smooth, and grip well to the road or to the off-road. We couldn’t find a surface that it doesn’t suit. Except quicksand. Don’t ride it through quicksand. The 20 degree incline capability is accurate and headlights and taillights are a nice touch.

12 mph and 10 miles on a single charge seem average, but when you see how smooth your ride is, and how quick your rides go, you’ll be amazed how far you got.

The dance music you pump along the way with your Bluetooth speakers is a great bonus as well.

What we dont love

  • times-circle
    Higher priced
  • times-circle
    Is not the fastest model
  • times-circle
    Not the classical model

What we love

  • check-circle-o
Perfect for Rider with High Standards
  • check-circle-o
    Probably most high-grade Model
  • check-circle-o
Increased Control and Stability with knee support
  • check-circle-o

What to Expect from a Hoverboard with Bluetooth Speakers

Sometimes the best way to enhance the board is not to add power or some larger tires. Sometimes, it just needs a touch of music. At least that’s what these Bluetooth boards do.

You can enjoy top speeds, fast rides, over terrains that you would normally go, but now you can do it with your music coming with you.

It’s safer to ride with Bluetooth speakers because you don’t miss out on the surrounding noises as you might if you were wearing headphones. Don’t miss a thing, and don’t go riding without your favourite tunes.

What You Should Consider Before Buying a Model with Speakers

  • Effect of music on battery level and endurance:

Take a close look at the battery capacity of your brand. It should tell you what sort of load you can expect from a single charge. Of course, by running your speakers, you use the battery power, which decreases your ride length. Find a battery that has a large capacity and a relatively short charging time.

  • Music Quality and general loudness

It’s no use buying the best board on the market if it makes your music sound tiny or like its coming out of an 8-bit video game. Larger watt speakers have good range and good volume ability. Silent motors also help with your volume level. You don’t have to worry about cranking the music over the sound of a whirring motor.

  • Importance of UL Certificate for safety

No matter feature, gizmo, bell, or whistle your hoverboard comes with, you should always first find out the UL rating. If it has a UL certificate, that means it has passed over 150 safety tests to ensure it is safe to ride. You won’t be at risk of accident or fire with a properly tested and certified Hoverboard with Bluetooth and lights.

How to Work a Bluetooth Model Hoverboard

When you first get your new model, you’ll probably enjoy just going for a ride…until…

What’s that? Is your speaker broken?

No, it’s not.

You just haven’t set up the Bluetooth connectivity yet. And it’s extremely simple to do.

Option 1 – Through the App

Your hoverboard with Bluetooth and LED lights should come with an app dedicated to operating the Bluetooth system. Look for that app, download it on your smartphone, and you can follow the instructions on the app to sync your personal playlist. It will stream directly from your phone to the speaker. You can adjust the volume directly through the app.

Option 2 – Direct Bluetooth

If your model doesn’t have an app, don’t worry. You directly pair your Bluetooth on your phone with the speakers on board.

Turn your board on.

You should be able to open up your Bluetooth settings and search for the Bluetooth signal put out by the hoverboard. Connect with it.

You’re done! You can now connect every time you turn your board and phone’s Bluetooth on. Play through whatever music app you like to use. It will play directly on the hoverboard’s speaker system.

What to Look for in High-Quality Hoverboard

You didn’t buy this board simply for the music. You bought it so you can ride and enjoy the freedom of a fast, fun toy.

Range

You should first look for the range. The best hoverboards come with a range starting out at 8-10 miles per charge. That should give you enough juice to last a trip to school, work, or down around the block. Anything less will severely hamper your fun.

Terrain

Think about where you want to ride your board. Are you planning on taking over sidewalks and pathways? Or do you want to take it with you to the park, down the beach, and along any terrain you come across?

Look out for larger tires and powerful motors to give you access to the type of terrain you want to ride. Most of the best hoverboards show their incline and tire durability. That should give you a good idea of what you can expect from your hoverboard, on and off-road.

Load Capacity

We see too many riders trying out boards that are designed for children, or kids riding boards way too advanced for their ability. Get a board that ha a load capacity in the weight range that you need it for. Smaller boards (anything under 8.5” wheels) are perfect for younger riders.

Capacity can range from 150 lbs. in the low end to 450lbs for the extremely advanced options. Find the load capacity that you need.

Conclusion

Go for gold on a Bluetooth hoverboard this season. They’re incredibly fun, they pump your music everywhere you go, and you’ll never have a dull ride.

Have fun and stay safe!

Are they for kids?

Hoverboard Buyers Guide 2

Buyer’s Guide to the Best Hoverboard for Kids

Look:

We get it. As a parent, you’re concerned about your children’s safety, and their ability to ride one of these hoverboards.

We’ve all seen the videos online of people falling down or of hoverboards bursting in flames. That’s some pretty serious stuff.

So, that’s why we want you to know that every model we recommend has been UL certified to have passed rigorous safety inspections, and to have safe batteries that don’t have a fire risk.

Recommended Age for Kids to Start Riding Hoverboards

Also, I know you’re thinking:

Is my kid too young to ride a hoverboard?

Kids as early as 6 can start on a 4.5” hoverboard. They’re lightweight, and don’t have the same power as some of the heavier models.

But if you’re truly concerned about your young kids, there’s a great model online. It’s the Feber Dareway 12 Volt Scooter.

It’s a solid frame ride-on scooter that your children can hold on to. It’s much safer and more secure than a standard hoverboard for kids, and it acts as a great introduction to ride-on toys for when they get older.

Although in most states, there are no age restrictions, California recently passed a law saying that you must be 16 to ride a hoverboard in public. Riders must also use helmets when operating a

Will my Young Kids Learn How to Ride?

Hoverboards are incredibly fun, but they’re great for you, the parent. You can teach your kids a good sense of balance that will aid them as they grow up. They can use the skills they develop on the hoverboard for skateboarding, bike riding, and sporting activities at school.

We’re all about safety here, so that’s why we recommend a good protection kit like the Kamugo Sports Protective Gear Set. It comes with all the protection you need to secure your kid against any unforseen accidents.

Helmets and pads will help during those first few times on the board. It takes a little practice to get used to. IT’s much better to start in a private yard, patio, or driveway before building up the skills to take it on the road.

Experienced riders will love flying down sidewalks and pathways, but it’s best start somewhere close to home for the first few times.

Again, we highly recommend finding a UL certified hoverboard. They have the protection against any disasters, and they can give you peace of mind that your kid is riding a tested and approved hoverboard.

What Else to Look Out For?

So, if you’ve decided you’d like to buy a hoverboard for your kids, what else should you keep in mind?

Durability

This is number one in our minds. If you’re going to leave this toy in the hands of your kids, you need to know that it’s going to last.

A durable kid’s hoverboard should be able to withstand the bumps and scrapes it’s likely going to get. A reliable metal or hard plastic frame should serve you well.

Also, look out for solid wheels that look sturdy and have good gripping power.

We recommend looking out for a model with a good warranty. Of course, nothing is completely kid-proof, but you should find a brand that backs their product with a complete warranty for defects. There’s nothing worse than getting a great gift for your kids only to discover it does a month down the road.

UL Certification

A hoverboard that passes the UL certification has undergone dozens of tests that ensure its safety. It’s going to be safe for your kids to ride on for months to come if it has that super important certification sticker.

Battery Size

Get to know the battery, because it could either be your best friend or your worst enemy. Look for shorter charging times and longer lasting run times. Larger motors wear on the battery faster. Also, there’s nothing worse than forgetting to plug it in when your kids are ready to go out and play.

Agility

Can your hoverboard handle the terrain? Does it just manage with smooth surfaces, or can it work on grass, sand, or rough ground? That’s the key to finding a kid’s hoverboard that you can use anywhere, as opposed to one that’s limited by your driveway’s border.

Load Capacity

This is a minor issue as most hoverboards can handle up to 100kg, or 220 lbs. If you need something lighter, the 4.5” hoverboards for kids are built for lighter frames and easier loads.

We know that you always want to give the best to your kids. A hoverboard is one gift that they will remember for a long time afterward, and one that they will use just about every day.

They’re fun, easy to learn, and now you can find the perfect choice for the best hoverboard for your children.
